More loos for London Bridge station – as new toilets open at last

London Bridge station has nearly doubled the number of public toilets in the railway station after a second set of loos opened recently.

To create the extra space, Network Rail converted two former retail units on the pedestrianised Stainer Street corridor into extra toilet facilities.  They include a mixture of female units (23, including accessible, family accessible, and standard), male units (12, including standard and accessible), and three unisex toilets: accessible, accessible with baby change, and universal.

Adding the extra toilets followed passenger feedback, which indicated that the existing toilets in the corridor between the mainline and tube stations did not meet the needs of the number of passengers using the busy station.

(c) Network RailCem Davis, Network Rail station manager for London Bridge, said: “As part of our wider investment to modernise stations and give people a better experience, we are delighted to have opened the new toilets, which has almost doubled toilet capacity at the station.

“The new toilets include a mix of male and female facilities. New and roomier toilets have been installed for passengers with non-visible disabilities, and a new accessible toilet and baby changing facility is provided for people with impaired mobility, the elderly, and parents with children.

“The new facilities provide a much more pleasant experience for customers and have been designed to better meet the needs of all passengers at this busy station.”

The new loos are in the corridor behind the passenger concourse, towards the Platforms 1-6 end of the station.

They are however also late, having been expected to open last year.
